The Spider in Queen Bee's Court
Catch the Reading Bug @ Your Library 2008 Summer Reading
Program
It all starts with the story of one hungry spider. Just as the spider tries to help himself to some curds and
whey, Little Miss Muffet suffers a dreadful fright and runs away. The hunt for the criminal spider is on.
As the story unfolds, the spider finds himself being taken prisoner by a lonely Soldier Ant who drags him to
insect court, presided over by none other than the Queen Bee.
Spider must wait his turn as other insect “criminals” are tried and disputes resolved. Children discover how
the beetle got its colorful wings and learn the fate of the old woman who swatted the mosquito. When it is
finally Spider’s turn, a surprise guest arrives and mayhem ensues.
All along the way, children are actively involved in each bug’s story and help decide the fate of Spider. Children
will be both entertained and educated about folklore and the insect world when they see The Spider in Queen
Bee’s Court.
Show runs approximately 40 minutes.
